The Magnesium Farm : Mars
There are quite a few places that look great in Infrared, not many though that look good in unprocessed infrared. Straight out of an IR camera, the image is predominently red, especially if you use a filter over a normal sensor as its the white balance that seperates out the different colours
This magnesium factory looked straight out of a science fiction film.
The site was created to extract magnesia from the sea and this plant was the only one of its kind in England. Around the time of the second world war, the plant was extracting 10,000 tonnes of magnesia which was then used in magnesium metal and other magnesia products. the vast settling tanks which are 185ft in diameter still dominate the section of coastline and are most of them are still full of water. The huge concrete wind shields had collapsed in places, leaving an almost skeletal barrier around the pools.
The walkways to the centre structures had all been destroyed leaving the small huts marooned in the middle of the water.
